The Last Wave
!Trigger warning: Fatal fire incident!
Note this:
If you're not Korean, this information will help you understand the game better:
- "Han (한)" refers to a complex emotion involving sorrow, resentment, and a sense of resignation—yet not quite giving up entirely.
- In Korea, the family name comes first, followed by the given name.
- "Saja (사자)" in Korean can mean both a deceased soul and a messenger (from the afterlife).
Introduction
Solve mysteries and resolve "han" with the Saja (Korea's grim reaper).
A midnight blaze consumed the building, claiming ten lives in the ashes.
The culprit has been caught. The case is closed.
...But your work is only just beginning.
"Hmph, not bad for a rookie. ...What? 'Can't even do this?' You little...!"
Together with your prickly yet endearingly clumsy Saja partner, you must uncover the identities of the deceased and help them find peace.
Who were they? What keeps them bound to this world?
In a building filled with half-burned belongings and fading memories, uncover their stories.
About
This game was created for Game-Off 2025 Game Jam, where the theme was WAVES.
This game is a mystery inspired heavily by "Return of the Obra Dinn", with elements of point-and-click adventure and visual novel storytelling.
The game's most appealing features are:
1. Your quirky and endearing Saja (Korea's grim reaper) partner
2. Deduction mechanics where you must match the wave, name, and location to restore each soul's identity
3. An emotional story
4. A meticulously crafted ending sequence
I'd be truly grateful if you play through to the very end!

Love the unique mechanics and the combination of pretty tricky logic puzzles and a narrative!
I put a lot of care into both the gameplay and narrative, so I'm really glad it came through well! Thank you for playing!
This is such an amazing game! I wish I was able to save my progress and finish it later because I don't have the time right now.
Our team had a similar idea to the radio waves you made but we ended up dropping it, so I am happy to see someone did something like that.
I love pretty much everything about the game, the art, the music, the story... I even giggled to myself in some moments.
I wish I was a bit better with Korean names, but you even explain the cultural differences so people who aren't familiar would be able to play and enjoy!
This is a very nice game, and I hope you continue to develop it, because I would love to play more of this and will pay money to.
진짜, amazing job.
Thank you so much for enjoying the game!
I really hoped the English version would capture all the fun of the original, and I'm thrilled to hear it worked out well. Your detailed feedback truly means a lot!
I know there were probably many unfamiliar concepts and names along the way, so I really appreciate you sticking with it and playing through to the end. (Actually, I've had similar experiences playing games from English-speaking countries—sometimes the naming conventions and cultural references can be pretty confusing. Haha)
Thanks again! 감사합니다! :DP.S. I really wanted to add a save/load system, but unfortunately didn't have enough time to implement it. I'll definitely consider adding it in an update after the game jam voting period ends!
I can't believe how amazing this is! Well done!!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed playing! Thanks!! 😊
